Erasmus Mobilities
ROMANIAN STUDENTS/ OUTGOING STUDENTS
GUIDANCE FOR STUDENTS SELECTED FOR ERASMUS MOBILITIES
- Please consult the website of the International Relations and Community Programmes Office, which contains information about the selection (News) and web addresses of the partner universities.
- Consider in good time the possibility of finding additional sources of funding for your stay abroad, because, by its nature, the ERASMUS grant is not a scholarship that fully covers your travel and living costs abroad, and when you leave, according to the National Agency's regulations, you receive only 80% of the total grant amount.
- In EU and EEA member states, you can travel with an identity card (ID) issued by one of these countries or with a passport (optional).
- ATTENTION: All students selected for mobilities in North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey can travel ONLY with a passport. Students from the Republic of Moldova who do not also have Romanian citizenship (a Romanian passport) and the university's non-EU students must apply for a study visa at the embassy of the country where their mobility will take place. Check the validity of your passport, bearing in mind that you may be abroad during the second semester of the 2019 – 2020 academic year (January/February – July 2020). The legislation in force requires it to be valid for at least 6 months after the expected date of return to Romania.
- Before leaving the country, apply for the European Health Insurance Card from the Health Insurance House of your county of residence. Students from the Republic of Moldova without Romanian citizenship must take out private health insurance.
- Students from disadvantaged backgrounds who receive a social grant or qualify for one but do not receive it because of a lack of university funds will receive a monthly top-up of 200 euros on the basis of supporting documents.
- The Erasmus+ programme encourages the participation of students with special needs. If one of the selected participants has a physical or mental disability or other health problems that prevent them from taking part in the mobility without additional financial support, the university may apply to the National Agency for a special needs top-up of the grant to cover the additional costs. Participants who wish to apply for additional special needs support must discuss these aspects with the Erasmus+ Office representatives when preparing their mobility documents.
FORMALITIES FOR PREPARING THE ERASMUS MOBILITY FILE
a) Administrative formalities – handled by the student, with the support of the International Relations Office:
- filling in and posting the application and accommodation forms (Application Form, Accommodation Form);
IMPORTANT: some partner universities do not offer accommodation on campus, so students have to find their own accommodation in the private sector.
After being accepted by the university abroad:
- opening a euro account at Banca Transilvania, Bacău branch (with a euro Mastercard), into which the Erasmus grant will be paid.
- signing the financial contract between the student and “Vasile Alecsandri” University of Bacău, which sets out the amount of the grant, the period of study abroad and the rights and obligations of the Erasmus mobility participant.
b) Academic formalities – handled, before leaving, with the support of the teacher responsible for the bilateral agreement with the partner university where the mobility will take place:
- setting the mobility period in good time;
- choosing the subjects to be studied at the partner university and filling in and signing the study contract (Learning Agreement), which is attached to the application form. For a 3-month mobility, 20 credits must be obtained; for a 1-semester mobility – 30 credits; for a whole academic year – 60 credits.
